Our Story at Sword Furs
Owner Jim Sword never dreamt he would end up in the fur business. It was not until Ray Novotny, the father of Sword’s close childhood friend, asked him to work for Novotny Furs in 1993 that Sword got into the business. Even with no knowledge or experience, Sword finished second in sales and was asked to stay by the new owner when Novotny sold the business.
Sword worked under the new owner, Margaret Chisar, for 15 years until she closed shop in 2009. It was during this time that Sword developed a passion for the fur industry. He learned from two of the best–Margaret Chisar and Paul Morton, both master furriers from Hungary–and in 2009, Sword chose to continue the tradition of excellence imparted to him by opening his own store–Sword Furs.
